Mount Baldy

Last Friday friends of mine (The Marshalls) and I hiked Mt. Baldy in preparation for a trip of Mt. Shasta in two weeks.  It was awesome!  The beginning of the hike up to the Sierra Club Ski Hut wasn't so bad.  There was a little snow.  However, right as we arrived at the ski hut a ton of fog and mist set in.  It was crazy.  It reminded me of some type of movie.  Anyway, we rested there and then had a TON of snow to hike through in order to get to the top of the peak.  We had hiking poles which made our lives a lot easier.  Eventually, we made it above all the clouds blew in.  It was awesome.  I felt like I could jump out into a bed of fluffy white clouds.  Getting to the summit was quite a trek.  Thanks to the snow, we lost the trail a few times.  It wasn't a big deal though.  You just keep hiking higher!  It was beautiful at the top!  There was hardly any wind.  I don't think I've ever been on a peak that calm.  It was really strange, and especially for Baldy.  You can check out PICTURES.

Who needs toilet paper anyway?

How many of you have gone camping???  Probably most of you.  I bet that one of the first things you do before leaving for your trip is to check whether or not your camping/hiking spot has toilet facilities.  If it doesn't, you promptly pack a bunch of toilet paper in your backpack.  Why?  Because that's what you've been trained to do.  But not anymore!  The days of toilet paper while camping are now over for you!  What?!?!?!?  That's right - I said it! NO MORE TOILET PAPER!!!  How is this possible you ask?  This is how: No More Toilet Paper.  Are you man (or woman) enough to join the REALLY cool club???

More Gabby Pictures!

Just posted some new pictures of the little monster...wait, I mean ANGEL.  Camille requested (forced me) to move my camera to a different (more inconvenient) location and now I don't take as many pictures.  So, I am going to find a better place for my toy where it will see more use.  More pictures to come!

Help Cure Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy!!!

I'm climbing giant Mt. Shasta in June to help raise money and awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. One in every 3500 boys world wide has Duchenne.  But what is Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy???

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Boys with Duchenne are typically diagnosed before the age of five. Their muscles swell and joints become restricted. They are easily fatigued and have difficulty keeping up with others their age. Most Duchenne boys need a wheelchair between the ages of 10 and 12. The simplest of tasks, such as holding a fork or turning over in bed, becomes very difficult. In the later stages, heart and breathing muscles begin to fail.  Historically, most boys with Duchenne have not survived their teens.

How can you help?

You can donate directly to the cause at: http://www.firstgiving.com/mtshastacrusaders.  Every little bit helps - even if it's only a dollar!  Or, if you want to hike for the cause, you can find more information at: http://cureduchenneadventures.org/.  You don't have to climb a mountain like Mt. Shasta.  It could be your local hill!  You can find out more information on the organization at: Cure Duchenne.

Numero Uno

I decided to create my own personal blog. You might ask why someone would do that when the internet is saturated with thousands and maybe even millions of people blogging about their worthless lives. The simple answer is because I am WAY COOLER than all those other people!

Anyway, I'll be posting information on photography, hiking/camping, my exploits as a dirty lawyer, and anything else that interests me. Stay tuned...
